For over three hundred years, the De La Salle Christian
Brothers have served as an order of teaching Brothers
in the Roman Catholic Church. There are 10,000 Brothers
worldwide, with 800 serving in the United States.
In the United States, the Brothers operate 120 schools
and childcare institutions. The New York Province
is one of six Provinces in this country. It includes
New York City, nearby New Jersey, upstate New York,
and the Detroit area of Michigan. In this region
the Brothers own and operate seven high schools,
Manhattan College, and serve in several parish schools
and childcare facilities. Some New York Province
Brothers are missionaries in Africa, the Holy Land,
and other developing nations.
