sunlight envelopes the visitor to De La Salle
Hall. Glass wraparound windows, the sills
acting as pedestals for tasteful religious
icons, admit the light that is magnified by
the joyful spirit which pervades the atmosphere. |

One
brother in a wheelchair extends a hand in
warm welcome; another, a staff Brother, working
on the ceiling from a ladder, smiles a greeting.
Further down the spacious corridor, the cheerful
interior of the lounge opens to the right.
Brothers are engaged in animated conversation
with relatives or volunteers. Still others
read the newspaper as they sip morning coffee. |
| Neither
doors nor dark walls impede the process of
the shimmering sunlight which builds momentum
as the visitor tours the dining area, the
private rooms, the physical therapy centers,
and, finally, the chapel, the center of life
at De La Salle Hall. It becomes evident that
De La Salle Hall is an ordinary health-care
community with an extraordinary aura of peace
and serenity-- a health-care community which
is engaged in the healing of the bodies, minds
and souls of the Brothers living there. |
